GRADE 6 TEACHER BIOGRAPHIES

FLAVIA TEIXEIRA

Hi Everyone,

I feel great to be back at Aci for another productive and rewarding year! It’s been my 4^th year now. Isn’t that fantastic? I can’t wait to see my dear students…

I have been a teacher for such a long time that I cant picture myself doing anything else. I simply love teaching! I guess it’s all because of my mum who is also an incredible teacher in my home country, Brazil. She is definitely my role model.

However, it’s not only teaching that I enjoy. I’m so hooked on books that, believe it or not, I read almost 15 novels during the summer holidays. (They weren’t my school homework!) The Hunger Games Trilogy is unquestionably the best teenage book I’ve read so far. I wish I were as brave as Katniss Everdeen! At least we have one thing in common; I’d also die for my sisters (Clei and Fran). They mean the world to me:)

Apart from books, I love travelling and watching the sunset from different places around the world. My favourite place in Turkey is Kapadoccia and my biggest dream is that one day, I’ll fly on a hot-air balloon when the sun is setting in Kapadoccia. An unforgettable and exquisite experience, I’m sure!

Ah! I almost forgot! My favourite pet is my little tigress, Gigi. She’s the most adorable and clever cat ever!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our Açı Grade 6 Blog. It has been ten years since I started teaching and this is going to be my first year at the Açı Schools and I am very happy to be a part of the family. I live on the Asian side of Istanbul. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, reading and travelling.

So far, I have had the chance to see a variety of beautiful cities including London, Miami,Los Angeles, Paris,Bordeaux,Geneva,Rome etc.

While visiting these places, I’ve met many interesting people. This is also connected with getting to know other cultures and traditions which is surely valuable. In addition, as many would agree journeys educate, so whilst travelling as well as exploration we can make our knowledge wider.

Needless to say, teaching is a kind of passion to me and I definitely enjoy spending time with my students.

Albert Einstein once said: “The greatest insanity is to keep doing the same thing the same way and expect a different result“. So, please make a change in your life and be a part of this blogging process which will not only help you to improve your English but also share knowledge with your peers. Please remember that learning is a life-long journey!

AKANKSHA MISRA

Hello All!

Welcome to our Açı Grade 6 blog. I am originally from India; although I grew up in Malaysia and South Asia in general. It’s a beautiful part of the world—you should visit!

This is my 5^thyear in Turkey and Istanbul and I love it. I have made some great friends and have had wonderful moments traveling around the country. My favourite places, apart from Istanbul, include Datça, Marmaris, Cappadocia, Mardin, and Antakya. I live in the city centre of Istanbul with my husband and 2-year-old son Ruhan.

Apart from traveling, I love sampling different world cuisines and reading. Both these skills, although varied, I believe are an important reflection of the cultural aspect of one’s personality. The more one enjoys eating different kinds of food, the more open one is to different cultures as food is an important component of any culture. From kebaps to sushi to polenta to spicy Thai curries…I love them all! Even in reading, I try to derive pleasure from an eclectic mix of books. I am currently reading the Turkish writer Elif Şafak’s non-fiction and M.R. James’ 19^th century English ghost stories. What fun!
